Not only am I a digital media creative, but I also hold a BS in the field from East Tennessee State University. When I was a kid, I lived in a small town in North Carolina. I have been fortunate enough to call both the mountain and coastal regions of North Carolina home, and that has only served to heighten my appreciation for the inherent beauty in all things.
As a kid growing up on a farm, I was enchanted by the sights and sounds of every aspect of life, from slobbery pigs and crowing roosters to shiny new eggs, colorful trees, fragrant flowers, and delicious fruits and vegetables. I was captivated by all of these things, to name just a few instances. In my experience, every day brought a fresh and thrilling creative adventure. Making a front yard museum out of a little backyard project is not out of the question. My mud pies, which I cooked with organic eggs, were really stunning. The limbs of trees were woven into sculptures. Rocks, pinecones, feathers, and other materials that were discovered were repurposed into one-of-a-kind works during the process. These ordinary riches ignited a creative deluge, and the creative flow is still going strong today.
It is my deep belief that the Almighty God invited us to find joy in the little things in life as a reminder of the blessings we have received when He created the earth. I have come to embrace a way of life that finds creative beauty in the ordinary things around me as a result of this. Still today, as I press on with my journey to make it a reality, I often find ideas in the unlikeliest of places. Whenever I take out my camera, I always feel like a creative spark is lighting up the world around me, capturing all the breathtaking beauty that surrounds me. Whether I’m taking a leisurely stroll in the park, along the beach, on a mountain hike, in the kitchen, or simply relaxing in my backyard, there’s always an occasion that radiates with unadulterated creativity. This joyous occasion is present in all of these pursuits. It inspires me to capture the moments of innovation. Most of the time, I manage to catch both commonplace objects and those that would normally be thrown away. The combination of the value found there with flare is my ambition; I hope it will inspire others.
